Re: Lights, this question is for you...
That's right! Queen Mary 2 is such a prime perfect example. Look at the extensive sea trials they twice put her through, before she could be considered seaworthy. Then it was during her successful maiden voyage that she ran into the really rough seas...for which she certainly passed as a seagoing vessel with flying colors.
To think, even Lights didn't put much stock in her, but QM2 proved h/er wrong, didn't she?

Well yes but as I remmebr Olympic was caught in a pretty good storma nd survived as well so that still proves nothing. .. The ships of today just are not as hauntingly beautiful as those of years past.

Olympic also sunk a U-Boat during WWI. Although she had sustained quite a few injuries under Captain E.J. Smith's command, and had to be taken back to her home H & W Shipyard in Belfast to be repaired. She also was known as the 'Happy Ship' too...as well as outliving her younger sisters; Titanic and Britannic.
True, the ships of today aren't as hauntingly beautiful as those of yesteryear...but, atleast we still have Queen Mary to still look back on from those bygone years, to visit out in Long Beach, CA.
