posticon TITANIC's Achilles' Heel

The History Channel last night aired still yet another and a couple newer never before seen documentaries about Titanic titled as the title of this opening thread suggests; as well as TITANIC's Little/Twin Sister.

It has to do with her aft hinge part which may have been faulty in both her and Olympic, her sister ship. They also had to dive down to Britannic, their younger sister ship, to find that same hinge on her aft section, to see if it was faulty too. They found that H & W had improved on her's, after Titanic's sinking...sinking that may have caused her to sink.

Hope you guys also watched these documentaries last night? They both were very interesting to say the least.

They certainly were cool, weren't they, Mark175!? emoticon

I liked their positive outcome assessment that came out on the mixed in Titanic Inquiries throughout the TAH documentary. Didn't you?

I'm also totally baffled about how in the hick that wheelbarrel got inside Britannic's boiler room/or crew passage area too.

You're more than welcome, Wills. Hopefully, the History Channel will air it again some time. So keep your fingers crosssed, OK?

TAH & its follow-up, TITANIC's Tragic Sister (correct title) aired again last night on the History Channel. TITANIC Tech followed.

WOW!!! Isn't it amazing how we're suddenly getting alot of documentaries about our favorite oceanliner, and her two sisters; Olympic & Britannic all at once!? I find this to being totally cool!!!

Yeah and I had the extreme pleasures of watching them ... what a great show..

though the "final moments" I had seen in 2006 so I knew about it.. though it was nice to see it again .. as that was the show that my brother recorded over..

I'm so glad, Wills, that you were able to finally see those three documentaries the other night.

Did you happen to notice that wheelbarrell lodged inside Britannic boilerroom passage, and if so--aren't you as stymied as I am as to how it got there?

I've been thinking about it, because it does raise a cloud of suspicion as to how it actually got there. Such as the very same people whom interrupted our divers' diving expedition, for instance. The question remains, as to why their dive was suddenly halted. emoticon

Hi MA,
Yes I remember seeing the wheelbarrel. I too think it strange . I am glad though that John Chatterton did get seriously hurt.

My thought on how it got there is....
they use to use wheelbarrels to help carry coal from the bunkers to the furnaces...or actually just outside the furnaces so the crew could shovel it in easier.. perhaps that is how it happened.. it just rolled over ... also it could have came apart after from its secured location after being there several years.. after all Brittanic is on her side....

anyway.. just some thoughts.

Of course, why didn't I think of that. Giving myself a V-8 konk on my forehead. emoticon The stokers using those wheelbarrels which to get coal from from the bunkers, which to shovel it into the boilers. Now why didn't I think of that. emoticon

Good show, Wills, good show!!! emoticon You're sooo smart, my friend. You really are!!!

But still my suspicion remains as to why our divers were suddenly told to halt their dives down to Britannic.... especially since she's there for which to dive to. And because she's also Titanic's identical twin sister, she's (Britannic) the next best thing to being her tadbit older big sis. I would've have loved for them to learn more about the prognosis as just how she sank, wouldn't you?
