Re: Arrrgh! I wrote nothing today.
Sorry to hear about your weekend McDoogle! Hope you actually get a chance to write NEXT weekend... or maybe even during the week!
Well, I don't want to rave on and make you feel bad when your writing didn't go well, but my writing week so far - Monday & Tuesday - has gone GREAT! A lot of progress, I actually FINISHED my current WIP! Very excited! There was an underlining horror theme to my novel - there usually is!
But now that I'm done with the first draft, I think I'll write a few horror short stories.
Hey, you wanna read one of mine currently online at Nocturnal Ooze?
Here it is, if you get a chance to read it let me know what you think!

Re: Arrrgh! I wrote nothing today.
McDoogle, sorry to hear about such a weekend! I hope you got nice overtime and pay for it.
I have started to look at such experiences from a writer's point of view: it's all stuff I can use in some story some day. Even when I'm frustrated or disappointed or hurt - it's emotion I'll show in a story some day, and having been there will make it all more believable.

Don't feel bad, Mic. I'm still spinning my wheels and getting nowhere. I'm hoping to get back into it this week, but I've got a major website redesign project looming in my near future.

Re: Arrrgh! I wrote nothing today.
WOW! Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I'm off of call on Friday, so hopefully next week-end...
OK, I don't know what you sillies think is so funny about:
quote: Goofy melters in the BOP shop!
That was mainly written out of frustation after working with the melters via phone conversations all night. Goofy (or fun, happy, joyful, cheery, pleasant, etc.) isn't an accurate portrayal of Melters. As a group of all of the places, pulpits, and shanty's I've gone to in this Mill...they are the most somber, zombie-like operators of the lot. Not talkative. A lot of one word responses. Glum comes to mind. The guy I 'worked' with most of Saturday night looks like he walked off the set of 'Dukes of Hazzard'. Everytime I tried a new fix, he said he wouldn't know if it worked for another hour. This went on most of the night. That was the goofy part! Finally after 2 hours of no one answered the phone out there, I get the melter...but it's a new melter. And he has no idea what I'm talking about. It was then 10:00PM so I gave up. They survived somehow... Glum BOP Melters!
However, the melters and most of the people in the mill are all great to work with personally once you get to know them and establish a good working relationship.
Firlefanz: We do get Callout pay for this headache, but it hardly seems worth all you have to give up to support the mill 24 hours... And if you want to experience disapppintments, and frustrations...Steel Mills are great places to start!
Looking forward to the week-end...

Re: Arrrgh! I wrote nothing today.
OMG!
I can't believe I actually wrote NOTHING today! No notes for a story, or even a contribution to a short story - nothing, zilch, nada!
Oh well... there's always tomorrow... though usually on the weekends I don't get a single word written!

Re: Arrrgh! I wrote nothing today.
I'm working on a story that I seem to be able to write only in short bits, with a lot of thinking time in between. Do you think this means I haven't planned it out enough beforehand, or are the characters just running things their way? I can't decide. I thought I knew how it was all going to fall into place but now I'm not so sure.
I feel like I'm working on it every day, but I'm sure not writing every day.

Re: Arrrgh! I wrote nothing today.
Well, I haven't written for almost a week! ARGHHHHHHHH... it's totally frightening, but it's happening...
We've been really busy the last week with renovations and organising so that everything would fit into place. And well, the bulk of it is done but there's still a lot of re-organising and re-shuffling to be done. It's so time consuming that I've hardly even hard enough time to sleep.
So tired. I think this week will have to be catchup with sleep week and organising some more... not to mention getting back into the writing groove. It just feels so strange that a few weeks ago I was doing so many words each day and am now doing none.
Phew! There's a short story I wrote last week that I'm going to revise today and I'll soon have to let these things running around inside my head right out onto screen or paper.
There's too much clutter, both in my home and in my head!
