I haven't written anything new for days (unless you count my editorial for The Scriptorium, which I don't). Argghh! Things are so busy! And I can't even find my to-do list on my piled-up desk. Wahhhhhh!

I need to refocus. If I can just get time to sit still long enough...

Anyone else out there struggling? This post hasn't been added to for a long time so I figure you're all writing up a storm...

Storm, yes. Writing, no.
I've been spinning like a top, skittering across the floor, heading for the stairs!! Look Out!!
Whew, that was close.
This is the worst week of my year, every year. It's an improvement each year, last year it was a month leading up to this week. The year before it was two months, and so on.
Thursday is the 6th anniversary of the death of my father and nephew in a small plane crash. My father (65) was piloting and they ran out of gas. How stupid is that, I ask? A car, yes, run out of gas, low risk, but mostly of embarrassment. He had taken my brother's son (15) with him and they died together.
Aside from that, I'm working on a contract that is just getting more and more tedious as I finalize the content. And in my day job, I'm verifying the 8400 records in my database and discovering that the accented characters don't display correctly. Fortunately, the way the database is built, I can (hopefully) correct once and have it filter down to all the records that use the data.
Writing is the last thing on my mind, unless I can turn my nightmares into horror stories.

Oh, dear Wanda.

*hugs*

These things do take time. I think you are doing extremely well when it's only hitting you for a week now.

All the best for you, and don't pile up a heap of blame for not writing, on top of everything else.

Hi Wanda,

I didn't realize the anniversary was so close. These things are always so difficult, but they do get slightly better as time goes on.

I sent a message reminding you that your workshop story was due, but if you need a couple more days, that's fine. We can't critique them all at once so if they're spread out a little it shouldn't make any difference. Janelle's will also be a day or so late as she was in hospital for a few days. Just let me know.

<hugs>

Still very little story progress. However after a brainstorming session with a friend to try and do some mutual story problem-solving, I think I can get going on it again.

If only I had a free day sometime soon. Where are the rest of those Saturday-morning childcare coupons that my husband gave me...?

Meh. I'm also firmly in the no-progress camp at the moment. I'll give myself until after Easter before pushing back into writing. I can't even find a spark of inspiration, I feel so drained. I hope that lots of sleep and walks in the spring air will help.

Sherry, this might relate to your distraction post: I think I'm still recovering from finishing my novel.

Yes, there's such a great feeling of accomplishment, but one is still drained. When I finish NaNoWriMo at the end of November I usually feel great, but then I have to jump into December and Christmas with everything I have. I don't have any time to think about writing for a while, which is just as well. I don't think I'd be at all productive anyway.

No writing for me today... just a LOT of thinking about current projects that still need to be finalised!

No writing for me on Sunday. I got disctracted by too many things, not the least of which was that my darling husband took me out for dinner, when I had planned to write in the evening.

Darling husbands--aren't they just so annoying at times? emoticon

Well, just write twice as much tonight and you'll be all caught up.
