Hi Firle,

Yes, it was for that project. It was a good experience writing for a deadline, but I'm glad I had some practice in doing that for the anthology projects over at Scribe's. And I'm glad it's over! emoticon

My workshop is also finished--the last session was on Saturday. It was really great and I feel I learned a lot from it. It will feel good to get back to some other projects now, though. Although I'm sure something else will pop up...it always seems to...

Did you finish your YA novel for that March deadline?

Glad to hear that workshop was worth the time. And of course, best luck for your anthology story!

No, I didn't make that March deadline. Too much on my mind, and that novel didn't resonate at that time, either. It needs a lot of work, and I'm trying to shovel away other projects so I can focus on what needs to be done.

It happens.

Even so, I just sent out two of my short stories, so I'm not totally out of the loop.

Re: Current Projects

It's been a while. Good news from hard working writers.
LOL
I've been reworking my NaNo novel and getting lots of encouragement from prospective readers (actually, I'm getting emails from people asking when it will be published because they all want a copy! no pressure <G>). I'm enjoying the story a lot, so the rewrite process is not too painful.
It is slow, though. Life is interfering with my plans.
I finished up a flash piece, on time, and sent it in. I was working on a short piece but missed the deadline that I was working towards. It was a difficult piece to write and once I found the right voice, it's been going well. As I approach the end, it grows difficult again. Good-bye is so hard. But, today I'm in a good space for it, so it's the designated project of the day.
One quick look around my on-line world and now I'm getting down to brass tacks.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Still on that YA novel, which is really dragging its feet.

I'm also working very hard to polish an old sword and sorcery tale. I'm debating whether to send it to WofF or a reviving S&S magazine ...

Hey Firle, did you get that story off somewhere?

And how's the YA novel?

I'm getting very close to the end of rewriting my SF novel. I had to pick it up from scratch, but now it's going well.

Glad to hear you're doing well on your novel! Woohooo!

I sent that S&S story to ... Adventures of Sword and Sorcery, go figure. emoticon

The YA novel has been shunted to the backburner. emoticon

Well, sometimes that happens. Goodness knows there are more things on my backburner than in front! emoticon

Re: Current Projects

I'm continuing to work on my NaNo novel and I'm through about half of the rewrite.
I've written one short piece about my mother dying and I'm half way through another.
I've been reading a lot of science and political theory as background for world building.
A lot of my time has been taken up with work and home projects (heavy time at work and lots of summer fix-ups around the house). In fact, as I write this, I'm running two laptops, one for work and one for me.

Re: Current Projects

I finished a short story last month-woo hoo!! Its 8000 words and I am submitting it to Sherry's anthology when all the kinks are worked out. It's a vampire story, something different for me. I have started them in the past and God knows I've had lots of ideas. I'm pretty happy that I've completed one. Finally, I am making some progress!! I will wait to the new year to start another project, but I have a few ideas flowing in my brain.
