Re: Current Projects

Great news!

I'm editing my NaNovel, for a deadline in April. I want to enter it into a competition where the prize is getting published.

so, Firlefanz...how's it going? Good luck with that!

I'm attempting to write a love story for a StoryQuarterly contest. I am not getting there quickly. I don't know why. I like love.

A bit boring for a theme, don't you think?

I hope to write a play this year. My first. Maybe I should do that instead. I dunno. I can't find my writing spirit. But then, my room is messy. It's probably under that stack of unopened mail, discarded bra, paint shop pro book opened to selection masks and advil.

The novel is doing well, just lacking the last few pages, winding down lose ends. I found a beta reader who has been giving me great feedback, so I have high hopes of ending up with a nice novel.

A love story? How is that boring? emoticon Good luck with the play, it's always good to try something new. Oh, and get well!

In other news, I've been chosen to participate in another anthology, I'm writing a story against a deadline in three days (fortunately, it's 2k max), and I'm pondering writing a fairy tale for another April deadline.

Plus I'm editing an anthology, which has been a lot of pain mostly. Just got it back with harsh comments. *sharpens pencil to make it better*

Guess I'm a sucker for punishment. emoticon

Well, I abandoned my summer attempt at a fantasy short story, for the simple fact that a new plot bunnies shuffled into the bedroom one night and demanded I do something with it. I hate when that happens (so I say).

So now I'm scribbling through my first attempt at a novel, a mystery, which involves a LOT more research than I originally thought. Working on that in between my sophomore year of college and I'm taking my sleeping bag with me to the library from now on.

Yet, I wouldn't even think of entering another profession.

Good luck with that novel, Tandra. emoticon

I'm nearing the end of a paranormal story I started in November last year. I'm pleased with this first draft and am already planning the changes needed for the second draft (which I hope to start by the end of October).

My biggest project at the moment is agent shopping.

I feel I've hit the glass ceiling with ebooks. I've had bestseller nods, top five finishes in the P&E Readers' Choice Poll two years in a row. (Results not offiical until Feb.) Ready for the next step.

WIPs at the moment, two slash romances. One straight, (pardon the term)and one paranormal.

Slashers Romances, Kourt?

Hmmmm. I'm thinking maybe Hollywood screenplays. That sort of thing appear to be hot right now.

Good Luck, K!

PS. I'm still not working on my unfinished Gladiator novel from 2005.

Slash means male/male. I'm blazing some new country.

Already had a return contact from Jenny Bent. A response, although a question, in the same day is pretty fast. It pleased me.

The voting has closed. But, standings are not final. Will have to wait and see if I hold on to the number four slot with my first slash romance in the P&E Poll.

Lots going on today.

Re: Current Projects

Thanks for the offer, Kourt!

But my Gladiator isn't quite that kind of Gladiator.

Venax the Victorious lives in a Fantasy land much like Xanth or Discworld, and has lost his job as a Gladiator and needs to find a new job. It's a humorous (hopefully) look at umemployment, resumes, want ads, and interviews.

Currently after 55K words Venax is in a swamp, trying to clear his name, for a triple murder he did not commit, on the run from the very police force of which he was on a 90 day trial probation period, trying to get a job as a Police Cadet. It's not going very well!

I know how I want to end story, but I'm endlessly stuck on where to go from here to get to that ending. I think I made a bit of a breakthrough over Thanksgiving break, with a plot that feels 'right', but we'll see... I have 4 partially written chapters open right now all waiting to be sewn together in a pattern that makes sense.

If you need some help, Kourt.... Ummm, I'm probably the wrong person to ask! emoticon
