Big Block for Writers
What's the biggest Writer's Block that you've ever had for a story and yet.... overcome?
I spent 3 years with my Gladiator stuck in a swamp until I finally figured out a good storyline to get him moving again in Nov '08.
Can you beat that?

Re: Big Block for Writers
Ummm. I wrote a novel twice and am still stuck in the last chapter...
So that's not really a success story.

Re: Big Block for Writers
Wow Firle,
Stuck on the very last chapter of your novel... twice?
That's a bummer!!
Maybe, the story can't resolve itself, because, it's not ready yet? Maybe you think it's that last chapter, but there's more to the story, and it still needs to be told? Perhaps a character issue still needs to be resolved? Or is it like the issue I'm having where it just doesn't quite feel right?
While I seem to have resolved the three year writing block, I still haven't finished the novel, so I can't quite call mine a success either!
Keep pondering that last chapter Firle, something will break... eventually!

Re: Big Block for Writers
The first novel I ever wrote was intended as the beginning of a trilogy. At the end of the novel, the characters are trapped in a dungeon, walled-in by a rockfall.
They have been there for fourteen years now.
Someday I'm going to write the rest of the story, dammit.

Re: Big Block for Writers
14 years?
They must have a lot of food!
But... that would be a good Twilight Zoney ending. Hint... but don't tell the readers if they actually have a chance to survive or not.
Those are the kind of stories that leave me pondering the most.

Re: Big Block for Writers
I wish I had good crit partners. Right now, I have to work that all alone.
Ah, well.
(Before you offer, my novels are written in German. I have a friend who reads them all, but she likes *everything* I write, which doesn't leave me with a good opinion.)
