Allow Ink Capable to introduce herself.

What a great community! I can't believe I haven't stumbled on this forum before.

I'm a long-time recreational writer who has recently decided to go professional; or at least to write for publication for the first time. My short stories could be descibed as human interest or dramatic. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Hello Ink, and welcome!

Deciding to try to get published is quite a step in a writer's life, and quite a change. Best of luck!

Re: Allow Ink Capable to introduce herself.

Thanks for the welcome.

My user name is the way I feel about my writing at different times. Sometimes I feel like I have a way with words(and ink) and other times I feel incapable (as pronounced by Popeye the Sailorman). My avatar is a painting by Simon Vouet of Calliope, the ancient Greek muse of epic poetry. I'll take all the help I can get. emoticon

Vanishing is the short story I'm working on now. It's about the way we meet people, bring them into our lives and then let go of them just as lightly, inspite of how much they've given us. It's set in a chemotherapy ward. I'm a cancer survivor and it's always surprised me how close I became with the people in the chemo ward but that none of us kept in touch afterwards. It sounds depressing but really it's not.

I've been writing since I was eleven years old. By the time I was twelve I already had a writer's callous on the middle finger of my right hand; I always wrote longhand. I'm thirty now and I'm returning to writing after several years of hardly writing anything at all so I'm having a few small crises of confidence. But nothing I can't handle. emoticon

Last but not least, a big warm welcome from me too Ink. No wonder I'm having problems with speech tags and mixing tenses, I'm left handed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Okay McDoog...where's my dollar? emoticon

Hello, and welcome! The board has been quiet for a while but I'm hoping it will liven up a bit in the weeks to come...
