Children's Fantasy
Just wondering if there are any children's fantasy writers here? Middle grade to be specific.
I'd love to swap views with you.

Re: Children's Fantasy
I'm considering writing a children's fantasy during NaNoWriMo this year. Haven't quite decided yet, but the story has been rolling around in my head for quite a while.
But you already know my views on everything.

Re: Children's Fantasy
I do, Sherry, but I don't mind sharing thoughts with you about that chapter book you'll write in November.
Good luck with the planning...and the writing.

Re: Children's Fantasy
My "Feather Trilogy" is children's fantasy. The first two are finished but I might edit them at a later date and the third I've currently put to one side.

Re: Children's Fantasy
How long are the stories, Kat? Kids seem to love series so much that I would think a trilogy would be popular.
I had originally thought that this story I'm thinking about would have a medieval/fantasy setting, but lately I've been wondering about making it more contemporary. I still can't decide which would be better...

Re: Children's Fantasy
The first two are rather short but I'm going for a longer one for the third. I could post some up if you like?

Re: Children's Fantasy
Children do "fall in love" with characters and I've come to the conclusion that stand alone books in a series would be better than trilogies. It allows the kids to have a quick fix and move on, without the disappointment of not being able to get the next book in a trilogy.

Re: Children's Fantasy
Hi Scribe,
I have written a children's short story. It's called "Backwards Land". it's a silly thing where in order to survive/escape, the children must discover that all of the key verbs in the strange world they fell into are spelled backwards. It makes deciding what to eat a whole lot easier! I'm not sure what age level this story would be appropiate for. Or even it's it's any good at all....
Also, I entered a Children's Bedtime story contest a few years back and wrote 2 stories that had to be under 300 words. "The Scary Thing in the Closet" and "The No Name Story" (it's a poem). By definition both would be for pre-schoolers...I guess??? Actually both of those can be seen at my barely functioning blog: http://www.blogstogo.com/max ...i think...

Re: Children's Fantasy
"Backwards Land" sounds like fun. Did you finish it? Or try to get it published?
