Re: Good words
halcyon
adj:1. Calm or peaceful 2. happy, prosperous
noun: a tropical kingfisher of the genus Halcyon, with brightly coloured plummage.
mythological: a bird thought in antiquity to breed in a nest floating at sea at the winter solstice.
How's that for variety!

Re: Good words
I like small unusual words.
My favourite is NEB - the period before the sun physically sun rises, but after first light. The neb of the morning. Also, a bird's beak.
Aba, camel or goat hair fabric.
Dop, a cup for holding diamonds whilst cutting them.
Ord, the point of a weapon. A beginning.
Great thread by the way. Love these words.

Re: Good words
I have never heard "fratchy" or "blutterbunged" but I love them! My desk is completely blutterbunged.

Re: Good words
I think two of my favorite words are:
cadence: rhythmic flow of a sequence of sounds or words; a pleasing sequence of musical notes
demythologization: to divest of mythological or legendary attributes or forms, as in order to permit clearer appraisal and understanding
I love the word "cadence" so much that I have decided that should I ever have a daughter, that shall be her name . And "demythologization" was a concept I had to study in high school English when we read "Little Big Man".

Re: Good words
Tandra,
So then are you going to name your son: "Demythologization"? Or Demy for short?
