Re: What's In YOUR CD Player?
I usually have Franz Ferdinand on when I'm writing or typing. Sometimes I'll have Kaiser Chiefs or Scissor Sisters but it's Franz that really inspire me, I guess.

Re: What's In YOUR CD Player?
I usually have a George Winston album that takes me through NaNoWriMo, although last year I also relied heavily on the Babylon 5 soundtrack since I was writing space opera.
This year I'm writing a YA fantasy and as I've been thinking about it it's developed some Celtic mythology connections. Yesterday I found the perfect music (I think) for while I'm writing it--an album called "Daughters of the Celtic Moon" by Lisa Lynne. I'd never find it in a record store in this neck of the woods, so I bought and downloaded it from puretracks.ca. It's beautiful! Should be just the inspiration I need...I hope!

Re: What's In YOUR CD Player?
I got some new things to listen to... Franz's new album- You Could Have It So Much Better, Festival... and Crazy Hit's by Crazy Frog...! Lolz, love that frog.
They're all a bit loud and some would find them off putting but I'm just... strange...

Re: What's In YOUR CD Player?
I am incapable of writing (or doing much else, for tha tmatter) without music--I have to have something to sort of block out the world so I can get into The Zone.
I really love soundtracks for general work--I've got all three LOTRs, and then scores for The Crow, Sin City, X-Files, Wallace & Grommit, Harry Potter, Labyrinth....Yeah, I'm pretty much addicted to movie scores. The next one I want to get hold of is Black Hawk Down.
Also, usually at the outset of a novel or other big project, I'll actually put together a soundtrack to get me in the mood. For example, my current project is a near-future political dystopia, and Depeche Mode is the perfect band for it; I put together a CD of fitting Depeche Mode songs that highlight major plot points, and the final scene is conjured up in my head every time I hear "Walking in my Shoes". GreenDay's American Idiot album is also a frequent flyer for this particular piece, and I've listened to that album on repeat so many times while writing that I think I might owe them royalties

Re: What's In YOUR CD Player?
Right now I am listening to alot of dance music, which I haven't listened to in awhile. I have been back into Kid Rock, as well as classical.

Re: What's In YOUR CD Player?
Wow, I feel so young. I don't know half the bands people here have mentioned, LOL.
But it's cool to know I'm not the only one who listens to music while writing. I pretty much can't do it without it. Or study, for that matter, so my headphones are pretty much stapled to my ears these days.
I'm bad about keeping up with CD's, so I use www.playlist.com. I can create lists of songs to listen to that inspire me perfectly, and it's usually a wide and varied list. Right now it's got everything from Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, Nickelback, Black Sabbath, and Hinder to the theme song from "Curious George".
Unfortunately, I can't seem to listen to my gospel too much, I always want to jump up and praise the Lord, which, while a good thing, does not get my writing done
