Re: Romance Writer
Thanks David. I've read so many different stories about werewolves it's amazing how many predicaments I've seen them in. I'm not too worried about my story, I'm more curious then anything about White wolf now.

Re: Romance Writer
White Wolf created a horror-based Role-playing game in the early 90's based on traditional horror elements (vampires, werewolves, ghosts).
It started with 'Vampire: The Masquerade' where clans of vampires essentially fought a secret war for control of the world through centuries old feuds. The clans mirrored many social classes that can be found in the world and some took a dive into pure horror.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse was the opposite. This RPG featured werewolves molded into tribes and carried a Native American influence, even though some of the tribes hailed from Europe and Africa. Thier motive was to protect the world from the forces of darkness, namely vampires and supernatural entities.
The games did a lot to romanticize the struggles of the vampires and werewolves and took these too classic monsters and gave them a good dose of humanity. They associated issues with the character classes and gave them reason for existing, rather then following tradition and making them simple monsters to be used into scaring people into religious belief or lifestyle changes.
If you want to learn more about them, go to your local gaming store and take a look at the books. You might just be inclined to buy one for reference, and it may help you in your writing.
I am also aware that White Wolf has a number of novels on the market based on their games. You might contact them once you get your stiry started and see if your story is something they would be interested in. If they are, it would allow you to use their material in your writing and eventually strike a deal with them to get published.
Otherwise, I think it would give you some direction for your writing.

Re: Romance Writer
Thanks Uncle Mac for all the info. You've definitely given me something to think about and a new market to consider. Because as of right now I have no idea who I'll research for The Arranged Mate.

Re: Romance Writer
What are you looking for as far as werewolf lore goes? Perhaps I can help you track down some resources.
I also have an old book on werewolves I have not read in ages that I could send you if it will help you.

Re: Romance Writer
Oh just anything I can find that might be something different than what I've heard before. My wolves are pretty basic right now, but I'm trying to think up something that will set them apart from the typical werewolf. I'm thinking right now along the lines of their mating ritual being very mystical. What's the name of the book you have? I'm not sure it will help, but I love reading about them anyway.

Re: Romance Writer
The title of the book is "The Werewolves" by Montague Summers. The print date of the book is 1973 and the copyright date was 1966. I don't know if it is still in print, but from what I remember reading of it, it was a very good book, and it had a lot of French lore in it regarding werewolves.
If you cannot find a copy of it in a store or online, let me know and I will send you my copy.
This book was originally written by Summers in 1933, and in his time he did quite a bit of research on witches, vampires and werewolves. He was a priest, so his work may be a little biased against the occult. for more information on the author, refer to http://www.controverscial.com/Montague%20Summers.htm

Re: Romance Writer
Well, the book was looking pretty expensive at Albris.
I'll let you have it for about $15 or $20, which would also cover the cost of shipping. Let me know if that's ok, or I can go lower.
