Re: Romance Writer
Keri;
Your book will be on it's way to you this week. The wife will get it to the post office this week. She's waiting on a couple of ebay items we are selling. Once those sell and she gets them packaged, she'll get those and your book to the post office.

Re: Romance Writer
Hey all! i write romance (as well as fantasy). Just wondering if anyone else does. Keri, are you still working on your novel? I love where you are going with it. I have several things on the go. Kinda getting stuck with one. I have the plot, but the sub-plots are a pain in the ass. I also started a vampire novel with elements of romance. I think I have to much on the go, but I can't help it cuz I get an idea and HAVE to write it down.

Re: Romance Writer
I have two romance manuscripts at different stages. One is complete, but needs a rewrite. The other is about 8 chapters into the first draft, but I got stuck with that one and need to plan it out completely before I attempt to write another word.
Like you, I write fantasy too and most of my manuscripts (all but the children's books) have romance threads. But don't most published books have some romance in them?

Re: Romance Writer
I agree, most books have some romance, and I for one enjoy it. To me, it makes a story complete, because love is a big part of human feelings.

Re: Romance Writer
Yeah, most books have at least a thread of romance. I agree..it's part of someone's life. Look at how many feelings and emotions we go through. Romance, no matter how superficial or deep it may be, should be in most novels. I'm not saying that all of them should have (it all depends on the story), but our characters seem (and are) more real when you add love into their life. I LOVE the series called DeathLands ( a sci- fi/ fantasy). The main character, Ryan, is a big tough guy who will murder in an instant if needed. But he still has Kristy (i think...excuse me if the name is wrong, but it's been a while since I have gotten to read one of those), and he loves her dearly. He'd die for her and it doesn't make this tough, macho man look any less tough. In fact, I love him more for it.....I hope I make sense. I have just moved and I am over tired, so my brain isn't at it's best right now.

Re: Romance Writer
You make perfect sense. I believe you feel this way because it makes the character more human, rather than just a character in a book.

Re: Romance Writer
I write romance in several genres. I've written paranormal, historical and straight contemporary. Although, I tend to push the envelope with multiple partners and same sex. To me, love isn't about gender or traditions concerning what makes a 'couple'.
The psychological aspects of sexuality fascinate me. I suppose it's why I am so driven to explore it through writing.
