They were invented to circumvent exactly that problem - they are valid for return postage to any country.
Sherry, it's not a problem to send a printed manuscript. It's just difficult to provide the SASE - and I wouldn't mind an email answer.
Fortunately, the problem is solved. A friend of mine will send me US stamps. Thank goodness for Paypal. I might have to ask for Canadian stamps eventually, though.
