New Markets
A couple of new markets have come to my attention:
Category--Dark Romance
Beyond the Blackened Mirror: Tales of Dark Romance (Glenda Woodrum, editor)
Dark romance in any fiction genre; pays shared royalty for 3k-10k words (not firm). Query for reprints. E-subs only to Editor Glenda Woodrum at GWoodrum@desert-moon- novels.com. Deadline, 3/1/05 or when filled.
Category--Any Fiction
Jigsaw Nation, edited by Edward J. McFadden and E. Sedia: "This is a themed antho. We want stories that deal with the question: What if the Blue states seceded? Alternate history, sci- fi [sic], F, H, mystery, foodie--whatever you can think of, as long as your story takes place in a world where the US consist of two separate nations (Red and Blue states). Make sure that that situation actually influences the story (i.e., do more than merely rename New England into New New England.) Explore the consequences of the secession, be they political, economical, psychological, or social.
"We are not interested in...stories where political message overwhelms literary value. Make it a good read, first and foremost.
"We are looking for stories up to 7.5k words (query if longer.) We pay $15 OA, plus 30% of all profits (advances/royalties) split between all contributors.
"Sub period: 12/15/04-2/28/05. Reading Period: 3/1-5/1/05.
"No multiple subs. Simultaneous subs--if you must, but indicate it in the cover letter, and notify us ASAP if the story sells elsewhere.
"E-mail subs only. Send them as attachments in MS Word or RTF format to katsedia@yahoo.com, with 'Submission: Title' in the subject line."
Category--Horror/Dark Fantasy
New: Panic (Sam's Dot) seeks H/DF, pays $10/story (1.5k-5k), $4/ poem (100 lines max). L.A. Story Houry and Tyree Campbell, Editors, samsnutmeg@yahoo.com; http://www.samsdotpublishing.com/PanicGL.htm. Deadline, 3/31/05.

Re: New Markets
True, Nancy; however I'm working on a story that has a deadline of Feb 25th, so I'm not suggesting anything I wouldn't attempt myself.

Re: New Markets
Thanks for the markets Sherry!
A great place to find market listings for Anthologies, Semo-Pro, Paying, and 4theLuv markets is:
http://www.ralan.com/
I've submitted to many places listed at Ralan's, with some great results.
Hope this helps others, like it helped me!
