Re: Reading

I'm now reading "I, Jedi" by Michael A. Stackpole. It's pretty good, even though it got off to a slow start.

Oh, that's cool. I have the Snow Lion's Turquoise Mane. It's full of Tibetan stories. I love the way they just ramble on and then end and I'm left sitting there saying "what! what? what!"

The storytelling style is certainly different from what we're used to in the West. I'm waiting for the moral at the end of each tale, and it's either not there or it's completely incomprehensible... it probably helps to be a Buddhist emoticon

Re: Reading

I wasn't reading anything but my own novel before I started the rewrite, but I'm going kind of crazy because of it. I might start reading the fourth Harry Potter book since I haven't read it yet and I like to read them before the movie comes out...but I have a long list of waiting-to-be-read things so I'll have to choose. I like the feeling of possibility when I'm choosing the next thing to read. emoticon

I've just started reading The Little Country by Charles de Lint. I had no idea what to expect, but I'm enjoying it (a lot). emoticon

I haven't read The Little Country, but I like his Newford stories. They're very original.

Re: Reading

Trying to decide which of my birthday presents I should start first:

Jataka Tales: Birth Stories of Buddha
Tao Teh Ching - Lao Tzu
The Call of Cthulu and Other Weird Stories - H. P. Lovecraft
The Best of H. P. Lovecraft
The Collected Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

(My friends and family know me too well...)

Or maybe The Legion of Superheroes Archives Volume 4, which I finally found in the pokey basement of a book shop near the British Museum on Saturday (after years of searching for it).

Sounds like you're going to be in heaven, no matter which one you read, David. (Happy belated birthday, by the way.)

Sherry, thanks for telling me about Charles de Lint's Newford series. By what I've read of Little Country, I think I like this author.

Hey, David, when was your birthday? Mine is Wednesday. I still haven't worked my way through my Christmas books yet, so I didn't ask for any for my birthday. emoticon Don't want to get too far ahead of myself.
