Sorry I've been absent...

Hello all,

Sorry I've been absent from the board for a while. I was NaNo'ing as usual in November and then on December 1st a dear aunt went into the hospital. She passed away on December 15th and since then...well, it's just been dealing with one day at a time for my family. She lived next door to me so her absence is keenly felt, and as well there are a lot of "business" things for the family to deal with, and I'm neck-deep in that.

It comes down to the fact that I've barely been near the computer for the past month or more and the next few weeks at least will be more of the same. However, I will try to start checking in again to see how you're all doing and welcome any newcomers. I hope 2006 will be a happy and productive writing year for us all.

Thanks,
Sherry

Oh, Sherry, so sorry to hear about your aunt. My condolences. *hugs*

Take the time you need to get everything sorted and to get used to the change.

Thanks, Firle. It's been a difficult time for all of us, but she was in wonderful spirits right up to the end and so we are trying to live up to her admonitions not to be sad (!) and just keep going.

I don't feel like writing AT ALL right now and when I have a free moment all I want to do is draw--but I've decided to be okay with that for a little while. My brain needs something distracting but not difficult, I think. I'm giving myself a few more weeks before I try to get back to "work". Goodness knows I don't have any leftover brainpower for work right now anyway!

Feels good to have poked my head back in here, though, so that's a good thing...

Now my comment about visiting my aunties seems even more important.
I'm glad that you had a good time with yours and I'm very sorry that she died and left you.
The next long while will cover up part of the hole.
Drawing is great, sitting and sipping tea is also wonderful.
And just because:

May she be led to the path of Avolokitashivara
Om mani padme hum hri

Thank you, Alesia. Unfortunately I can't seem to get my writing groove back yet. I'm hoping that February will see some improvement...

Well, I haven't been here in a while again, but McDoogle gave me a bit of a kick in the butt (a friendly one, of course) and so here I am. emoticon

Things are still hard but I'm trying to find time and energy for writing again. I've done some editing on a story I wrote a while ago and I'm handing it off to a friend today for comments. I've sent out some queries on overdue submissions, and am trying to get some stories moving again. I'm also doing some editing for others and hoping that will kickstart my writing brain.

So it's a start. emoticon Thanks for the concern.

They may be small steps, but they are positive steps. Keep going, Sherry.
