Re: Podcasts

I think maybe you did have a bad experience, David. And you're right, many podcasts have a link right on the page to simply play them.

The function of the podcatching software (or at least the way I use it) is to manage the podcasts that interest you and "fetch" the new episodes. Once you subscribe to several feeds, when you run the software it goes and checks each feed and fetches the new episodes for you. They appear in a list and then all you have to do is click on the one you want to listen to. It eliminates having all those sites bookmarked or whatever and having to go and search each one yourself to see if it's been updated. If you listen to a number of podcasts, it saves a lot of time.

At least that's how I use it. emoticon

Re: Podcasts

For us nerds who have fallen out of the loop, the Escape Pod description of podcasting is brilliant. To be honest, I have not pursued podcasting, nor seriously thought about it, except that it's been coming up lately in many of the venues I haunt.
I now have a vague, but useful, understanding of podcasts and podcatchers.

Re: Podcasts

Next up on my list of crazy possible projects--a podcast co-hosted by myself, my daughter, and my neice, in which we review YA, teen, and middle grade books.

Yes, I'm probably crazy, but we're seriously thinking about it. One reason: I think it would be a great thing for the girls to be involved in. Another reason: I think it would be fun.

I'll keep you posted...
