 "A Promise Kept" - A shelved TITANIC Fan Fic Story
It is like I just shared with our Captain, Mr. Titanic...
Had I continued with MB's help, I would have written a TITANIC fan fiction story titled--"A Promise Kept". The promise my character, "Carrie" makes to almost 5-year old "Maggie Murdoch", her prospective step-daughter, after she sees to it that she; "Red Feather" & "Cody Little Wind", her unofficially adopted son, are placed into a lifeboat with Margaret Brown, on Titanic's portside.
Carrie's promise, is that Maggie will be reunited with her daddy, William McMaster Murdoch, onboard their then unknown rescue ship. The rescue ship, of course--turns out to be Carpathia.
It is what happens between Carrie and Will, as Titanic is slowly sinking, on the boat deck, as she helps him find (3rd Class/steerage) passengers, since the 1st & 2nd Class passengers aren't too keen on getting into the lifeboats. Her stance to stand by him, no matter how grave their situation is...that greatly impresses and touches him. Causing him to eventually change his mind about any thoughts of staying onboard and going down with the ship. Seeing as how Carrie is willing to put her own life at risk for him, he decides to choose life instead, and meet her half way.
After loading the last of the lifeboats, they look for a way out, by heading aft towards the poop deck. Just barely reaching the stern section, before the ship takes her death plunge, and breaks in two. They make a grab for the fartherest aft davit, as they hang on tightly as the ship's stern lists forward as if on a ride at Universal Studios Center, watching with fascination as she breaks in two.[Editor's Note: a description of Titanic's break-up will be added here as the scene plays out before them.] As the stern section falls back to its upright position, Murdoch spots a raft-sized piece of the wreckage (the same piece of the wreckage Rose & Jack swam to in JC's film), he points it out to Carrie, suggesting to her that they take a leap of faith feet, and make swim to it. Before the stern section rises back up to its vertical position, so that they will avoid the suction. Letting go of the davit, they drop feet first into the water, and swim like mad to get to it. Once they reach it, she suggests to him that since (she is wearing a lifejacket...) and he is heavier than she, that he climb onto it first to balance it out with his body, that way she can edge her way onto it from his feet end, and slowly making her way on top of him.
Turning his attention back to the stern section, Will watches as it once again slowly rises up to its vertical position. Carrie, meanwhile, carefully slides herself on top of Will's body. She then too, watches as the stern section finally takes its death plunge and disappears into the abyss. Her loving heart going out to Will, she feels his pain, as they listen to the screams of their fellow passengers flailing in the water. Will, deep in his heart, knows that his dreams of commanding his own ship, has just sunk with the Titanic.

As you can plainly see--I went back and reedited it. How do you like the improvements I have made to APK story so far? And my Editor's Note, re: what I will be adding? Shall I use Cameron's description of Titanic's break-up...since he may have barrowed that same scenario right out of the pages of the NY/London Inquiries? :book:

Okay, MB, will do.:heyy: Only just a while ago, I copied my above story concept on to one of those legal-sized writing tabs, and stuck it inside my TITANIC screenplay copy.:book:
Incidently, after Lowe rescues Carrie & Will from off of that piece of wreckage. I am going to have her suggest to him that they will thaw-out lots quicker, cuddled-up together under the provided-for blankets. :kiss: B/c the heat from their bodies lying next to each other will certainly warm them up. Since Will now deeply loves Carrie, you "know" he will be too happy to comply to her suggestion.

 With this story? Yes.
The reason behind me suggesting that a la Love Boat scenario in the lifeboat...is b/c I either heard or read somewhere. That when either caught up in a snowstorm/blizzard somewhere, that to avoid dying of hypothermia. It is best that two (or more) people should lay down together under a tarp/blanket until the storm passes, in order so that the heat from their bodies will save them, and keep them warm.
That is my reason for having Carrie telling that to Will...hence suggesting what i just stated in my above post, so they can thaw out together more quickly.
Great idea!? Huh!?! :heyy:

I beleive you give a certain twist to the disaster as well as express a sort of unique perspective from where Will stands. It's rather fine however in my opinion would need more elaboration - I say work on it - fill in the skeleton and turn it into something gorgous!

I would like to begin the story where Carrie and her party of she, Red Feather & Cody are being shown around the ship by Thomas Andrews. When they reach the bridge, he kindly formerly (upon Carrie's request) introduces them to Will, who is standing slightly to starboard behind the fartherest starboard telegraph machine.
Then, when Titanic stops at Queenstown (remember Will's last photo of him w/Lightoller at the ships door watching w/concern at the boarding passengers?), Carrie & her party, formerly gets to meet Maggie, when Will brings her to meet them. They all hit it off right a way...with the two children taking to each other as playmates. With little Maggie, especially taking to Carrie's motherly attention to her, making her Daddy's heart leap with joy. Hence, a possible new family in the making.
Anyhow, what do you think of the possible beginning of this story?
