Lights, I have a couple questions for you...
When writing, do you often get those brainstorms in your mind, when trying to visualize on how to set a scene to add to your storyline(s)? And you write them down immediately?
I'm asking, b/c I get them often. Here's my latest...
I visualized Carrie, overhearing Will & Thomas Andrews talking to each other. As she edges ever closer to them, she surmised that they were talking about why there weren't more passengers out on the starboard boat deck, getting into the lifeboats. Then she's standing there within their sight, she suggests this brilliant brainstorm of an idea to them...
"Why not start with the 3rd Class/or steerage passengers first? That way, when the 1st and 2nd Class seeing them getting into the boats, it'll give them the initiative to also get in too. Huh!?" she suggests (in typical Hayley Mills' fashion), grinning at them both.
Looking at each other, Andrews says to Will, "Mr. Murdoch, I think that Carrie's on to something, don't you think so too?"
"She could be," replies Will, scrutinizing his lovely blonde blue-eyed American girlfriend, as he thinks to himself that she's got a good head on her shoulders as well. "Carrie, how do you suggest we start?"
"Well," she begins, thinking over the matter, "To begin with,I'd be too happy to help."
"Help?" Mr. Andrews and Will reply at the same time.
"Yes," Carrie replies. "Mr. Andrews, if you would please accompany me down to 3rd Class/steerage, I can show you what I'm driving at."
"Since the 3rd Class/steerage could turn out to be a rowdy crowd, Carrie. Do you think that you can handle them," asks Mr. Andrews?
"What!?! You're asking me, a teacher of American Indian children on their first day of school!? Sure, I can handle them!!!" she says, positively.
Both Will and Mr. Andrews look at each other, and then at Carrie. "She must have some kind of a secret weapon up her sleeve there, Mr. Andrews," Will remarks.
Grinning at them both, Carrie nods her head, and replies, "I do indeed. Mr. Andrews, shall we go NOW!?"
"Yes, of course," he said, smiling down at his refreshingly sweet First Class passenger, for which he tucks her hand under his arm, as they leave Will behind on the boat deck.
Turning her head back to Will, she says to him, "I'll see you later with the women and children 3rd Class passengers in tow, Will."
Chuckling to himself, Will gives her his nod, and an A-OK wave of his hand. Thinking to himself, he wishes that he could witness the scene Carrie is about to create...

Re: Lights, I have a couple questions for you...
Hey, MA. I just don't get over here enough. I tend to write when I get inspired and then, yes, it is something of a brainstorm.
Nice work btw and I would suggest writing something down when it comes to mind. It can always be edited/polished later if need be. Her's to smooth sailing ahead!

Thank you sooo much for your input, Lights. (Wish we had a 'hugs' smiley for which to insert here. )
BTW, it's Carrie's extraordinarily loud whistle, that is her secret weapon for which to get the attention of her American Indian students. She, you see--learned how to whistle, when she whistled for her horse on her father's Wyoming ranch.
She uses not only down in steerage at that gate; she also uses it on the starboard boatdeck when she's with Will, and that last remaining collapsable C lifeboat too.
