The Promise
I thought I would share this with you all...it is the result of what I think was a flashback to last life.
The Promise
A cold October night, the All Souls' Eve
I stand my watch, and think, and grieve
For those whom I shall never see again
After all these years, so much, much pain.
Soon we shall be at the Place
In spite of myself, I feel my heart race
Once again, I hear those awful screams
Those cries of terror and crushed dreams
It's been well over sev'n and a half years
I've faced Death enough to have no fears
Death they say is an illusion
Nothing but a human delusion
Then why do I feel this razor knife?
If we but go from life to life?
If on and on we go, with no end,
I haven't really lost my friends.
It is because I do not really know
After death, where do we go?
What this now that I hear?
Voices, and voices, yet I do not fear.
At one of them, my heart is still.
I know that voice-- Yes, tis Will.
Do not grieve for me, do not feel pain.
I promise you Lights, you'll see me again.

Re: The Promise
That is very good, and told from Lightoller's perspective. Nice.

Re: The Promise
Lightsy, my friend, if you trust in the Lord with all your heart and all your soul; and strongly believe in Jesus' birth, death, and that he rose again after three days, then...
You will see those again we lost during the wee hours of that terrible morning of April 15th, 1912.
Don't you remember, in JC's TITANIC, Father Byles' voice, cracking with emotion as he quoted the following texts right out of the Bible, Revelation 21:1-4, from the poop deck:
...and I saw new heavens and a new earth. The former heavens and the former earth had passed away and the sea was no longer. I also saw a new Jerusalem, the holy city coming down out of heaven from God, beautiful as a bride prepared to meet her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne ring out this is God's dwelling among men. He shall dwell with them and they shall be His people and He shall be their God who is always with them. He shall wipe every tear from their eyes. And there shall be no more death or mourning, crying out or pain, for the former world has passed away.

Re: The Promise
Oh, I never had too many doubts that, sooner or later, I would catch up with Will--and I have!

Re: The Promise
Neither is appropriate in this discussion. Lets focus on the art of writing.
