video of the Andrea Doria sinking
I've seen a number of pictures of her sinking, but I recently came across this short clip of the sinking from the History Channel. There's something so odd about seeing a ship on her side - it's just so unnatural.

Re: video of the Andrea Doria sinking
The Andrea Doria, now that is one famous ship! What I find so odd about it is that had the Titanic's watertight comparments been designed like the AD's, she would have survived, and vice versa! How ironic... No ship is truly unsinkable, it always depends in the situation.
Regardless, I do agree, it is unusual to see a ship on her side as well. That is why I don't really find the wreck of the Britannic quite so facinating (despite the fact it is practically an intact Titanic. I've seen pictures of the sinking before as well.

Re: video of the Andrea Doria sinking
I've seen that clip, Carla. It is truly strange to see a ship on her beam ends like that. Sad as well. She was a valiant Lady...took her over 10 hours to sink!
Yes, Mr. Titanic, no ship is truly unsinkable. I read about the irony that if she'd had the same watertight division as TITANIC, she would not have foundered, and of course, vice versa. Had TITANIC had AD's watertight division, she would not have foundered, either.
That is indeed a sad irony.
