Re: Chief Officer Henry Tingle Wilde

Support is very important to those who have been widowed, but especially to widowers. Unfortunately, that sort of support just wasn't there in 1910-12. It was expected that men would behave as men and "get over it"...far easier said than done, I suspect. And our good Mr Wilde just never managed it.
I suspect that, given his statement about not caring how he went or how long it took to rejoin her, death would have been something of a mercy for Wilde, poor man.
Now Lightsy, in all due respect, especially since it was not his fault for bumping Will down to First Officer from his original Chief Officer rank...even you could have been more supportive of Mr. Wilde. Wasn't it ole' E.J. who brought him on?
Why, even I don't hold hard feelings for the man for temporarily taking my husband's rank. He did not mind, because he knew that once the Titanic completed her maiden voyage, he would again be upped to his Chief Officer rank - and you too, would again be First Officer.
That is the feeling I got, as he shared his dream with me for which I felt his sense of optimism, as he stood there on the starboard bridge wing.

Re: Chief Officer Henry Tingle Wilde
Actually, I forgave Wilde quite a while back. I just had this habit of having too hot a temper for my own good sometimes.
