2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
Lights, this is where you can take the floor.
This thread is designed for any, or all information about 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller...
I'll begin. When Titanic left Southampton, April 10th, 1912, and after she dropped anchor in Cherbourg's harbor, later that evening...please tell us Lights', and his fellow Junior Officers' exact whereabouts?
Thank you,
MA

Re: 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
If my recollection is correct, Lightoller would have been getting ready to take the watch from Chief Officer Wilde. The junior officers detailed for their four hours on duty would have already been on the bridge as the watches overlapped. Those officers off duty would likely have been asleep as they worked four hours on and four hours off. Hope that helps.

Re: 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
Thank you very kindly, Lights, for your above information.
Since you launched the Titanic RPG, let's use the above posted scenario you there. Okay? That way, we can see you & Will standing at the open door, watching the group of First Class passengers making their way up the gangway, after they've disembarked from the WSL tender, Nomadic.
Under your launch, I have set up Will's lady-in-waiting scenario at Cherbourg, since it is the first stop Titanic makes after leaving Southampton.:titanic:

Re: 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
Here is a rare find, of a picture of our friend, Charles Herbert Lightoller (on the left), with an unknown fellow shipmate...
I really wish Lights, when she returns, identify this picture for us, as well as identifying that handsome fellow on the right. It is obvious to me, that he is not, in no way, my Will.

Actually, that is a photo of Jack Phillips with another Marconi operator, taken onAdriatic. Wills was going to tell you that, but thought it might be better coming from me. :sailor: :titanic:

You're right on the money there, Lights
You mean to tell us, that that handsome bloke on the left isn't you after all...but he actually is Jack Phillips? He looks so much like you...a younger you at that too.:heyy:
Hear is a "much" clearer picture of your avatar picture that you can use IF you wish. Take a look at it, and tell me what you think. Okay?

Re: 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
MA, I am honestly one of the most tolerant of individuals, but this sniping at Wills has GOT to STOP! Just what has she done to you to deserve the vituperation and all that just her name seems to evoke from you. We are all here to learn from TITANIC and her people. Let's try to do so in a friendly spirit, shall we?
This is an open thread and as such can be answered by anyone who has an answer. It doesn't need to be just me.

Re: 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
MA I have sent you a PM regarding the situation at hand. I am pleased with the information provided in this thread. However, I agree that the subject is centered around the Titanic's second officer Lightoller, and the main point is to learn from Titanic and all those who built her, sailed on her and died when she went down. However the mentioning of negative opinion does not logically fit into the equation and it upsets the TSOLD Community Rules. I will be brief and state that I will edit the comments, and wish for this thread to continue the smooth course it previously took before the off-topic comment. Every member of TSOLD is entitled to reply, is entitled an opinion and if it should be negative, is required to refrain from contributing it.

Duh? What did I say that was wrongly misconstrued, as allegedly snipping at Lill? Especially since, I agreed with her. Did I not originally address the question at hand about as to whom those two blokes are (thinking that perhaps that the bloke on the left might be you) pictured in the above photo (above your photo), to you, Lights?
Please reread my following query:
Quote: I really wish Lights, when she returns, identify this picture for us, as well as identifying that handsome fellow on the right. It is obvious to me that he is not, in no way, my Will.
Do you see Lill's name there anywhere? I don't. Therefore--I have nothing to apologize for.
MA

Re: 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Lightoller
I have treated this question off-board in my answer to your PM. There is just a snide, snippy tone anytime Lill's name comes up. You did not even need to mention her name if she upsets you that much. I know good and well you were asking the question of me, but I wouldn't mind anyone else answering if they got to it before I did.
And you need not use that pedantic tone with me,MA. I am a great deal more educated than I might, at first blush seem, to be.
You have Lill to the point where she does not like to post here...that is sad because this is a board for everyone who is interested in TITANIC.
