New Titanic Books

This thread is dedicated to all the new Titanic books on one's shelf. I recently received two new books I'd like to mention.

I finally got my hands on the famous Last Log of the Titanic by David Brown, and Finding the Titanic by Robert Ballard.

Finding the Titanic was one of the first Titanic-related books I read in third grade. It's been a favorite of mine for some time.

Re: New Titanic Books

They are both fabulous reads, Mr Titanic. Ballard has a way of making the science of finding TITANIC and the story of her sinking both fascinating and understandable (yeah, yeah I admit it...I'm a Ballard-head emoticon )

Capt. Brown has an interesting theory and although no longer new, I do believe it has some merit. I also like that LLOT is written from the viewpoint of a captain with shiphandling experience. emoticon

Re: New Titanic Books

I wouldn't hesitate to agree as well Lights. Dr. Ballard's book was one of the first Titanic books I was to read. I can name them in order, but the first was from a reading textbook from school. I've also heard many great things about Captain Brown's book, while amazon ratings have it as a 5-star book.

Regardless, I picked up a copy of "Her Name, Titanic" by Dr. Pellegrino. His "Ghosts of the Titanic" was a fantastic read as I recall, and it has become my favorite book. I decided to then get my hands on (for my birthday yesterday) the bestseller itself to follow.

Also, I have been reading "Iceberg" a Dirk Pitt adventure by Clive Cussler. It has been quite entertaining and I suspect that no Titanic collection is complete without the famous "Raise the Titanic" novel.

Other books I picked up were mainly about the weather. emoticon
