Hello

Just came across this site and it looks good. I live in Orange County, NY. I just started bass fishing last year and I really caught the bug. Can't wait to get out there again this year and try some new things.

Re: Hello

Welcome to my site Frank! I lived and fished for many years in Orange County before moving to PA 4 years ago.

Let me know if you have any questions on the lakes there as I have fished most of them.

Re: Hello

Well like I was saying I'm still real new to bass fishing. I just started last year and I have been doing a ton of researching online on different techniques. I don't have my own boat yet so I do most of my fishing from the shore. Glenemere Lake in Florida, NY is only about 15 minutes from my house so I often go there after work to fish. It's a pretty good size lake but there is only a small area to fish from the shore. I have caught a few bass right there but that area seems to really be over-fished so it can be hard a times.
The other place I fish is up at Hunter Lake in Liberty, NY. My grandparents own a house up there on the lake and they have a small aluminum flat bottom boat that I use to fish that lake. I have also caught some nice bass there and I can't wait to get out again this year when the lake thaws out.
Do you know of any other good spots in Orange County where I can fish from the shore? Thanks.

Re: Hello

Frank,

Glenmere is an old favorite and I have many memories of fishing with my dad and uncle there back in the 70s. Back then they rented boats there and last I had known they still did.

As far as shore fishing, Harriman State Park(Lake Sebago(also rents boats), Silvermine, Welch(also rents boats) and Kannawaukee) O&R Lake in Monroe(Stick to the RT17 west bound side), Walton Lake, Round Lake(rents boats), Arrow Park Lake(rents boats)Washington Lake in Newburgh(rents boats), Winding Hills State Park in Montgomery(also rents boats)...There are alot of places and I may have forgot a few.

If your in the Florida/Warwick area you may want to get you NJ license and try Waywayanda State Park as well.

Good luck!!!
