I'm replying after the fact, but....
My wife is a huge fan of the show. I thought that the Melinda girl that was voted off was one of the few actual good singers they've ever had make it that far (last year's winner and Fantasia are two of the worst singers of all times). Anyway, I was pulling for Melinda to win as she actually had talent.
Honestly, I didn't give a damn about the two that were left. I hated him and tolerated her.
As usual, the winner was the Fox network.

ditto on the fox win. recall though,
I didn't give a hoot about idol either. I never watched an episode UNTIL they came to San Antonio (06). Now with Idol gone I hope folks are watching

the thinking man's version of American Idol.
The winning director wins a million dollar hollywood movie contract. I see, those director contestants are not writers though. Without writers in this world there's nothing. No music, software, movies, tv, books ... You'll like the lot Jman being a writer. Last night the remaining contestants had 24 hours to, with a premise, write/produce/score/direct/film an entire movie segment or .. get BOOTED OFF THE SHOW just like SanJaya!!!!
good stuff especially with Princess Leia being one of the judges ON THE LOT!
Normally writers are not directors but sometimes, directors ARE indeed writers, case in point -> George Lukas. He did everything in his Star Wars movies except in the theater bring you your hot buttered popcorn junior mints and waltz you to the exit when episode whatever was over with Luke hanging upside down in some ice cave in the closing credits.
(you Wars fans will get that visual)

So are you still watching this garbage (along with billions of others) this season?
My wife's favorite is that little David guy. She also likes that girl from Arizona who is squeaky clean.
I think that the Kristy girl is the best looker, but tits and ass won't win you Idol.

I don't even know who's running let alone who's getting kicked off. I've set the tivo to record every episode since it began but I've never watched an episode.
JMAN (on the other hand mentions an entity called "the Kristy girl", the "squeaky clean girl" and some chap named David.
SHAME Jman. I got caught up with it last year but as of yet, I've not even seen the intro to the show let alone Simon, Paula, Randy and some chap named David.
Shame.

I finally broke down and watched Idol for the FIRST time .. the last show where that contestant got kicked off and sent home. I guess that's how the whole deal works eh Jman? Folks sing? America votes? Simon sends one of them home? Crying from what my magnavox showed me. That's not right.

Personally, the one that should be booted off is the announcer. That guy comes across as the sleaziest used car salesman there is out there.

I watched about 10 minutes of American Idol one time. That's about how long it takes for me to decide that a show has no redeeming value. It was just long enough to catch a good whiff of Paula and Simon: toss a coin for which of those two are more contemptible.
My best guess is that people who watch this show:
(1) enjoy being abused, or
(2) are fast asleep, or
(3) have TVs that get only one channel, or
(4) have deeply disturbing sexual fantasies for which this show is the only outlet.
Once a TV show has received my negative 10-minute review, I will never watch it again even if the show airs nightly for the next five years. It's like it doesn't exist any longer.

I've not watched Idol since that one show but Larry King had Paula, Simon, Randy AND Ryan live last night. Apparently the animosity's real. Simon hates everybody (especially Ryan).
Simon live with Larry actually referred to Ryan as an "annoying mosquito".
SIMON -> It's not that you HATE the mosquito. It's just that you want it to go away.
Small wonder Simon's not invited to too many anything's.
Since you've only seen 10 minutes of Idol in your life Helium .. you know not about which we speak. And Jman .. I assume the announcer is .. none other than Simon's mosquito.

I don't watch the show and I've GOT more than one channel. I think it's on in fact as I'm typing this. I'm instead watching MSCSNBC where Anderson's saying .. Hillary just smashed a creme pie into Barack Obama's face. Youch but yummy .. kinda hard to peg that one.
