Image Sources

Perhaps the best place for topical images is http://www.reuters.com with their "News in Pictures" section.

For general pictures, e.g. if you are writing a story "Elephants travel First Class" you can use Google Image search. Just do a normal Google Search, then click "Images" on the top menu bar. Not sure you'll find a picture of an elephant on a 747, but it's worth a look.

Other sources include "photo album" type sites, e.g. http://www.webshots.com which is also searchable.

Most images out there are of course copyrighted. I havn't seen much regard for copyright notices in my dealings with satire sites.

Not sure if a photographer would laugh or cry at their work being used in a satire piece.

this one's my top secret image source .. the one that got me to the top of the 1-starring line .. good as google only better.

Images seem to be better than Google's in the sense that picsearch appears to have a better filtering system. Tons of hard-to-find, unique images there too, not found on the other image search engines. Just look at that Mr Kerry jpeg? Classic or what.

That link is fun and you can come up with story ideas just looking at all the pictures and nope .. the search term

Unfortunately darvijen doesn't give me any hits.

I must've spent over an hour just looking at pictures of urinals. It was great.

Not that secret, Proddy. I used it for most of my Britney pics. I gotta agree though, it's better than Giggle. Wider range and more unusual stuff. Great resource.

Another tip is that it's sometimes easier to find that special pic by doing a straight search and then following up the most promising text links to sites with images.
You can find some rare pics that way.

That's a real life Produce Manager Mz Jenna. And like Mz Banks says, if you follow the actual text links in those pictures it gives you more information about the picture and more possible leads to even more pictures. That man in that picture is, according to the text a real life produce manager .. or assistant produce manager. What he's doing is, he's putting out the day's produce. Or stealing it, hard to tell from the jpeg.
