I've been a staff writer for Cynic since the beginning of this year sometime. Mari Plante is the editor for submissions, nice as well as helpful. They post monthly, stories, poetry, short news items and the like.
My stuff isn't there this month as I wasn't writing for most of August and forgot to submit July's stories before I left, but I recommend the site.
Your stories should have a longer shelf life than the normal spoof ones as a piece submitted on the 3rd of a given month won't post till the next month which can make some things seem dated. Write your stories without the phrases "so and so said today" or "this and that happened yesterday" since if the editors don't catch it it'll post that way and look really stupid a month later (the voice of experience here).
You submit your stories to Mari and she'll use em or not. A couple of my pieces she's broken up and used in successive issues as short paragraphs (Today in Sports). If she wants to edit anything she emails you first.
Submission cut off is I think the twentieth of the month, but if you let them know they can hold space if it's really worth it till, like, the 28th.
