Well this is where it all started for me, and also the reason for the existence of this forum.
TheSpoof is a site that has done a very good job of automating the process of author signup, story submission and publishing.
Anyone can signup and add stories, and if they make it through the editors critic, they go live promptly.
TheSpoof stories are crawled by Google, so if you keep thing topical you are assured of some hits.
This forum is a result of the Writers Forum being shut down at TheSpoof. Hanging out with the other writers is what made it fun for me - so when that went down I created this venue.

Me too. The forum's what initially attracted me to the site. It kinda always disappointed me, tho. Not active enough, and when it was active, it seemed the writers were always at each other's throats. Are we so competitive?

We're not, hon. :-)
But I think a lot of the others are/were. Or at least I got the impression that it was a kind of cliquey club and if ya face didn't fit, you were history. One of the things I really dig about Utterpants and their forum is that everyone is rowing the same boat. Ya know what I mean? They're all writers and damn good ones (better than me most of them!) but the site comes first, not their egos.
And there's no *****ing, just good natured gagging and some really freakin' hilarious exchanges.
I guess they don't take themselves too seriously whereas some of the Spoof writers did. I mean, writing satire's supposed to be fun, first and foremost. If it aint fun why bother with it? Life's too short to get hung up on ego trips and dumbass arguments about friggin' beavers!
