Good news!
I've just gotten an offer to host advertising on the LWN site (which is currently ad-free). I'm not sure how I feel about this yet, but it would allow me to pay hosting fees and provide a tiny stippend to a couple of writers. It would only be a few dollars a month at first, but there would be a potential for more if the site were to catch fire with readers.
I'd like to do something fun and different with LWN by parodying news personalities as well as presenting news stories. It would be great to have people breathe life into the various roles on the site, such as the former child star turned entertainment reporter or the seasoned news veteran with an unhealthy obsession with monkeys. There are also characters who are currently blank slates begging to be fleshed out.
If anyone might be interested or knows of anyone looking for this kind of challenge, let me know.

It's a good offer, Tem. But Manny was just teasing when he said I was asking. It's an inside joke, that goes all the way back to a certain glossy webmaster who came here offering money once.
