It was actually a kind of my own in joke.
Every now and then where I work someone will send out a mail reply to one of the automated mails. (Such as xxx server is no longer available etc)
Sometimes you get alot of these mails, and there's not much you can do. Or need to do for that matter, just hit delete...
But no, for some numb skulls this is not enough, so the conversation (carefully broadcast across the entire company goes like this)
Auto> Server xxx is no longer available.
A> Please take me off your mailing list.
B> Please take me off the mailing list too.
Admin> Please do not reply to broadcast emails. If you wish to be removed from a list contact xxx.
A> Please take me off your mailing list.
Annoyed person> Look don't you get it. You can't get taken off the list.
Another annoyed> Stop replying to everyone.
And another> Why don't you stop replying?!
Admin> Please do not reply to broadcast emails. If you wish to be removed from a list contact xxx.
B> Please take me off your mailing list.
I've spent many a happy afternoon just waiting for the rippling 'ping' sound as a thousand inboxes across the office receive the next exciting installment.
I've seen it on quite a few messageboards too, so I thought you might have got the joke.
