'Zimmermann' (note the two 'nn's) is a common Kraut surname meaning 'carpenter'. The only thing 'Semitic' about it is in your 'semen' obsessed imagination, Gene.
As Don's story is about 'wood' he appropriately chose the name 'Zimmerman'. But then Don's a writer, while you're just a washed-up, dumba$$ scribbler with delusions of grandeur. What's more he's from Texas and clearly had an education which you didn't. Have you considered getting a job guarding prisoners in Iraq? You seem well qualified for it. Point taken. I stand corrected, albeit tongue-lashed. Having rubbed denim elbows with 3 different Amish communities, the Zimmermann name has never surfaced, neither in personal contacts nor in the county registers, but all-in-all, as your research indicates, a Texas education is better than none.
