No Women please: we're satirists!
Just read this great article over at Pants by Ms G. Dangmit,that woman can write. The biatch makes me wanna weep into by beer. IMV, She makes some really good points about what me and Jen call the 'online satire biz' and why so few women bother to write satire at all. I hope some of y'all enjoy it.
No Women please: we're satirists!
I was recently sent a comment made by a webmaster of a satirical website which made me realise why so few women writers bother to submit anything to these bastions of male chauvinist supremacy. He was commenting on the temerity of a woman to not only write satire, but to actively advertise her gender prominently on her website. Needless to add, the site in question is not utterpants! Here's what he had to say:
"The first thing that struck me was that the webmaster was a webmistress. At that point I threw out my book on the laws of internet physics. I had always assumed that running a high content humour website was on the same level as writing your name in the snow with your urine, watching Robot Wars or spending hours at a time imagining what it would be like to have breasts."
Frankly, I'm surprised he needs to 'wonder.' In my experience, most American webmasters have bigger tits than I do. If he spent more time learning how to write and less speculating on what it feels like to have a knobhead yank on one's nipples in the mistaken idea that it was remotely erotic, he might understand why most women find his brand of 'humour' only slightly less entertaining than the risible contents of his underpants.

No? How many 'satire' websites do you know where even a fraction of the top writers are women. We'll pass on the Spoof coz we both know that with the exception of Mz Moore, none of the women on there can right for Sh1t.

Helium overlooked the fact that by moving the picture to cover that which was previously more tastefully obscured, he uncovered the hardbound edition of Ms. G's, Notes on Nude Punctuation, which should in fact be hidden from the roving eye of Sir Google, hence the newly placed 'frame of subtle censorship'
