Re: sorry Paul
Manny, you're adorable. No, I did not know those things about Vivien Leigh or Jed Clampett. But then again I've never seen the Wizard of Oz.
Yes, you heard me correctly. Oh, I've seen bits and pieces, and always have been curious to do that experiment of watching it while listening to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. But I never have. Truth is, I was never very much of a Judy fan before I discovered Liza (on a long ago night while watching PBS when MTV got boring). But Judy was pretty cool. She wasn't the first pick for Dorothy, tho. They wanted Shirley Temple. Learned that from the Garland bio movie a couple years back, the one where Judy Davis (a fine actress who also played a good Nancy Reagan) played the older Judy Garland. You know she only lived to be 47, right? She looked 87 but she was very young yet. Drugs and booze and overwork, and probably a lot of sex... it all adds up. In a way, Liza's her mother's daughter, only she's lived a bit longer. And hopefully she can stay on the wagon.
Who is Serena Gest? Their adopted daughter? I heard they wanted to adopt a child (Liza's never been able to have kids) but never heard if they did or not.

Re: sorry Paul
I was never a really big Liza fan til I heard her sing that song on that special. I don't know much about Judy .. I guess she was a singer/entertainer but to me Judy's Dorothy, caught up in a rogue Kansas twister. Liza seems to be a fuller more vibrant vocalization of her mother .. vocal-wise she's phenomenal (sp)
all I know .. I just know she's good and if Mr JACKSON thinks she's good why then ..
Serena's a daughter, I've not researched it further. Or the fact that there is indeed ONE human on Sei-ul (earth as the aliens call it)
that has not seen the wiz. of oz. Impossible to be a Sei-ul citizen and never have seen it. How darivjen?

What special, babe? She won an Emmy for Liza with a Z, but that was back in 1972 and if you saw that when it was aired, that means you're older than me.

Quite true, but there's lots of oldies I haven't seen.
Behold:
Casablanca
Gone with the Wind
It's a Wonderful Life
Anything with John Wayne (Blech)
Breakfast at Tiffany's
