Sport Karate Stories
This is about the crazy things that we did or do just to be a Sport Karate Champion.
I remember that every month Karate Illustrated(Now defunct)had a Karate Champion on the cover and did WHAT EVER I HAD TO GET IT !  Which was beg,borrow and steal(just a few times

Karate Illustrated had 12 regions,with NY/NJ being #11
I knew every name rated in our region and most of the rest because I would read it EVERY DAY until the next issue would come out.I remember walking from 164 street in the Bronx to 161 st than Fordham Road(over 24 blocks!) to check if it was out and if it wasn't I would hop(Sneak on)the subway to 42 street if it wasn't there I would walk to 51 street and hop on the Subway again because there were always cops at the Duece(42 st.) That's not the crazy part this is the whole thing took about 3 HOURS and often repeated the mission again the next day!

When I was an undebelt, I would videotape the black belt divisions and watch the top fighters in each division.
Eventually I knew I would compete in the light heavy division, so I watched and modeled what the champions of the 90's did.
I made a tape of Fast Feet and Mafia somewhere in Connecticut ( Doug Peoples tourney I think) that I watched until the tape fell apart. (' ') and another tape of Jerry against John Peyton that also fell apart.
Sport Karate Illustrated sounds great, however you would need to get it out the people other than those compete. The internet should help spread the word.
