Re: Star Trek
I'd like to see a new Star Trek series set in the 24th century leading up from the time DS9, Voyager and the last Next Generation movie ended. Specifically about a new ship in the series called Grandeur. Unlike TNG, this ship is usually assigned to different areas of the Alpha Quadrant than we've seen, while still parts of the Federation and/or bordering, some new and different.
But, then again, you can only tell the same stories differently so many times before they're no longer interesting to the general public and even Star Trek fans. There were probably too many series running in order with each other at the same given time for Star Trek. I loved them all, but could tell that with some of the changes made to Voyager in it's final year, and some of the incontinuity problems with Enterprise... Seemed the writers were grasping at straws at times just to keep the general public watching. Sometimes pissing Star Trek fans off.
Currently, I think Star Trek needs a break. Probably for a decade. And perhaps when it starts off, a theatrical movie or a series. Not both. The problem with have three series running at the same time as in with TNG, DS9 and Voyager is it created factions of fans. That was a mistake despite the fact most real Star Trek fans enjoy all the series.
Luckily for me, that means I can write stories in the 24th century where the shows didn't get to, never concluded, or never answered. That is a very powerful asset.

I'm also very optimistic about the new one. But as I did with the last two, I'm not going to spoil myself at all. Once I know it's out, I'll go see it, but have made very careful moves not to see anything concerning it's production. I know the basic story, but that's hopefully as far as I'll notice until I see it.
