Just a little constructive criticism on this one image Darren - The gears make it look more like an X-Wing than a Federation support craft. I hope she doesn't re-attach to Grandeur with those gears. (:

emoticon Uh.... yeah... I just borrowed some landing gears from an x-wing fighter that I had... just to show she lands.

I haven't been in the modelling mode for a long time with getting married and moving into a new home. Still haven't moved out of all the boxes yet.

Heh. I know we've all had some interesting times the last year or more.. (:

When you do work on it again, I wouldn't use landing gears at all. It appears as rigid (even though I've not seen the bottom) as any runabout or shuttle, and would seem more so considering the craft it is. It can land without feet. :D

Well I get mix thoughts on that, unlike a runabout it seems like this shape of craft should have some sort of landing gear. Maybe not quite this type but something.

Lane we have sort of a Tech manual for the Blackfoot now but I am thinking more will be added to it. We can send it to you or Darren can.

We even did some Star Trek CCG second edition cards with the blackfoot and some with the accessories, those are cool.

I am hoping Darren will take the time to do more with the different modules that attach on the back. I know they have to be drawn up in more 3D mode so they can be turned in different directions to how the ship is angle. But this way we can have more cool shots especially of the Weapons Pod and the Mini Nacell which I like the best, but the sensor pod is cool too.

Well, we're still having fun with all this too. I've been following everything on the scifimesh site, though it took me a little bit to get caught up.

Still, despite Blackfoot's design, support struts maybe. Those long landing gears, no. I've always assumed shuttles and runabouts had some kind of support strut underneath them just in case considering the ground they are landing on. I'm sure with perhaps two support struts, considering the dynamics of the Blackfoot would suffice. And no one would see landing gears unless they were exiting from the bottom.

Just suggestions as always, but I really think the Blackfoot should be able to land gracefully, and without gears or feet that could be seen or noticed.

emoticon My tummy don't need no landing gear, so... that would be fine to me... its a hassel anyway. The size of BF-A is about three times that of a runabout, so there is weight lag to consider... but this is make believe too... so, whatever.

I'm gonna do you up a better crew pic Laney... with the new pics you sent. I guess everyone should have updates, huh? Except that ugly guy up in the starboard nacelle control room.

Re: Blackfoot

I have been talking to a great modeller who has been supplying me CGI orthos, over the past year or so, for the Sci-Fi Channel BG schematic project that has been an ongoing thing since I was working with D.Drexler and others on ST:New Voyages. Brian "Smallworld" O'Loughlin is going to remodel the Blackfoot for these reasons:

>>> The model I have from Paul Cargile is not editable by me. Not only is my program fried, but the model itself has decided to come apart now and I'm not experienced enough to fix that.

>>> We have always had the problem with the BF not being thick enough to have the bridge or rooms we really want or invision. I believe Brian can help in this area really well and not compromise the work and size of the hangar bay Vektor has already finished. As it stands, and don't quote me on these figure... these are rough, the current BF is only about 12 ft. tall in the area where the bridge needs to go... that would actually give us a 6 ft. bridge ceiling that tapers to about five ft. at the front for headroom. Not good. Brian has already shown the ability to do cutaways and that would really help when we get to doing the interiors...

Image

>>> The Blackfoot is already pretty ship, but she needs some grit... some teeth. Brian is really good at that kinda stuff! Look at these few examples...

>>> next, we need the model to be able to have a proper landing gear setup, not to mention the different modules/pods that she has. I had to model those seperately in order to show them on the ship when I needed to. That was a pain in the butt!!

>>> lastly... we will need a good solid CGI model for our physical modeller to 3D print a scale Blackfoot with the Grandeur-A release, or if we get a following for BF, maybe a larger model of her too. I don't know what Andy is up to these days and there hasn't been even a whisper about his progress or whether he wishes, or can, continue with his efferts.

I will post some pics of progress for everyone in this forum to see when it gets into WIP stage.

Re: Blackfoot

Hi all,
Just a few pics of some early tinkering that I got into last night. These are new warp naecelles grafted onto the body of the extant model. The fins are too pronounced on the first two, byt there may be a place for some type of fin, to echo the motherships styling perhaps. The other one is a different approach with segmented panels and raised (too far!) plates. Chime in with any ideas,

Cheers,

Brian.
