Potty Training
Does anyone have suggestions on how to get my little girl potty trained? I'm at a lost.

Re: Potty Training
With my two boys, the first few days of potty training were spent with a potty in the same room as them and with them wearing no pants or trousers - it made it much easier and quicker for them to get to the potty on time (you need to choose a time when you can stay around the house for a few days for this). I also used treat-sized sweets as a reward for potty success (these were phased out quite quickly but were a good incentive at first). We then gradually worked up to wearing pants, then wearing pants plus trousers, then moving the potty into the bathroom. Obviously there were some accidents, but it wasn't too bad.
The best bit of advice I was ever given was that it is something that cannot be pushed - if they are not ready then you should stop and try again later. With both of mine, I tried a couple of times and gave up after a couple of days each time because it just wasn't happening. The final time, they were obviously ready for it and they went from nappies to totally dry in around a week.

Re: Potty Training
yep a single smartie, jelly tot, chocolate button or something similar is a great reward for getting it in the right place. Sticker charts work well if you have kids as obsessed with stickers as mine seem to be! LOL
and totally agree with Jackie's philosophy. Potty in the same room with naked bottoms to start... then gradually add lower half clothing one layer at a time... lots of praise and encouragment when they get it right and a "oops, lets see if we can do better next time " if they don't quite manage it works wonders. Think positive, be ready for the odd accident and don't let it stress you or the little one out. If there are too many accidents... back into nappies for a month and try again later.
