posticon Insomnia

The reason I'm posting at 3.30am is because a lot of the time I have real trouble sleeping. Does anyone else suffer from this?

Re: Insomnia

Oh, poor you Tess. I had terrible insomnia when I was ill last year and it was HORRIBLE!!

But since I got back to work I've been fine and sleep perfectly. What have you tried to get rid of it?

Re: Insomnia

The usual, not reading or watching tv in bed, taking hot baths, milky drinks before bed etc. I dont want to have to take sleeping tablets, although I might have to try them just to get enough rest!

Re: Insomnia

I used to suffer from insomnia a lot when I worked (stress-related) but rarely do now.

The worst thing to do, for me, was to lie tossing and turning. I used to switch the light on and read for a bit (I sometimes fell asleep still holding the book), or even get up and wander round the house for a bit. But I only had short-term problems - I'm no expert on long-term insomnia.

I hope you get yourself sorted out - insomia is no fun at all emoticon

Re: Insomnia

I make sure I get up now and read or come online. I agree, tossing and turning is the worst. emoticon

Re: Insomnia

Something that works for me is to write a book in my head. If I can't sleep it's because I'm thinking too much, usually about work. If I can "shut up" and focus on something else, I can get to sleep.

If that doesn't work, I get up and go in the other room and read. I would read in bed, but husband complains that the light bothers him.
