I'm back :)

Hello! Breathing again... (well, for a short while anyway...)

Beth, thanks for helping out with the moderating emoticon

I thought personal pronouns would be a good idea for the next lesson, so here it goes:
(btw, I know this is a bit dry, but I guess if we try going through some basics we can then start building sentences...all at its time...emoticon)

ich - I
du - you (informal)
er - he
sie - she
es - it
wir - we
ihr - you (plural, informal)
sie - they
Sie - You (formal)

Unfortunately I can't find pronunciation files for this lesson but I'll try to come up with something to help you out...

to be

In German, the verb "to be" is sein.

The conjugation goes like this:

ich bin
- I am
du bist - you are (friendly, informal)
er,sie,es ist - he,she,it is
wir sind - we are
ihr seid - you are
sie sind - they are
Sie sind - You are (polite, formal)

Re: German for beginners

Another two words necessary for the first sentence:

Wie - How

alt - old

Now the sentence that can be built from all the lessons so far:
Wie alt bist du? - How old are you?

And for practice...how would you say:
1. How old am I?
2. How old is he?
3. How old are you? (informal)
4. How old are they?
5. How old are You? (formal)
6. How old is she?

Answers next time emoticon
