Summary: Shalimar and Brennan talk.
AN: The point of this story was more to see if a story consisting of just dialoge could work than to promote an actual story...
“It’s been cold lately.”
“God, Brennan, you scared me.”
“Sorry. I thought you heard me. What are you doing out here anyways? Isn’t it kinda… cryptic?”
“I guess. I don’t think of it like that. It’s not like their buried behind the rock face.”
“How can you say it like that? Like you don’t miss them anymore.”
“Trust me, I miss them. That’s why I’m up here. It was Emma’s favorite place.”
“I didn’t know that.”
“That’s why I asked you to engrave their names right here. She would have liked it that we did this.”
“You just said that their not buried behind the rock…”
“Brennan, you know what I mean.”
“It’s cold, Shal.”
“Why are you changing the subject, Brennan? You were the one who brought it up.”
“Forget it… Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing…”
“Come on Shal, I didn’t mean to… to make you upset.”
“I know, I’m not… You didn’t do anything.”
“Here, you’re shaking, take my coat.”
“Thanks… Hey, Brennan?”
“Yeah?”
“What do you think Emma would think of us now?”
“Don’t do that to yourself…”
“I’m serious, Brennan. I mean, all this stuff with the Dominion and Adam and Lexa, we’re all hardly getting along… We’re not fighting for anything real anymore. Hell, we don’t even know what we’re fighting for. It seems like every day I think about throwing away my ring. And if I’m not throwing it away, I’m handing it to someone as I run away from Mutant X to do things my own way. That’s not how it should be. We’re a team, Brennan, and we’re not even friends anymore.”
“No, Shalimar, listen to me. We’re friends. Me, you, and Jesse. We’re more than that- we’re family, ok? You know that.”
“But… if Emma were here, what would she say?”
“I think she would say ‘This doesn’t feel right’, or ‘I don’t like this’ and she would tell us all that our bond was strong enough to get through it.”
“You don’t think she would be mad?”
”At the Dominion, probably, but at us- I think she would be proud. We’ve stuck together.”
“God, I miss her… She would make it all better.”
“I know.”
“Thanks for the coat.”
“Anytime. You know we’re going to get through this.”
“I know. Brennan, don’t leave me, okay?”
“Never. I promise.”
