Under Adam
"I wish you were here," I whispered, my fingers lightly brushing over the rock surface of the mountain. "Emma DeLauro" was engraved under "Adam Kane". When Brennan had first done it, right when we got home after the explosion, the order had made sense. But now I wished it had been the other way around. Emma was my sister and the only person who kept me sane. Adam… we don't even know who he was anymore. Or is. We don't even know if he's alive.
While Emma was alive, she let me share everything with her and she helped me through all my pain. I thought I had done the same for her, but I'm only now realizing that she kept her pain to herself and let me believe I had helped. I could have been mad, but I knew what she had done for me. If she had given me her real pain, I would have gone insane.
So I wish we had engraved her name on top because she deserved it. But more than anything, I just wish she were here.
