My village and my car.

This is the Staffordshire Moorlands village of Calton, taken from my friend and next-door neighbour Roy Hitch****'s garden. The small church of St Mary is clearly visible (if you screw your eyes up a bit!) further down the road.

It was pretty chilly in January!

This is Agnes, my 1972 Wolseley Six.

Agnes is getting ready to raise money for the annual Church Fete, known as the Calton Wakes.

We were joined by the Black Country MG Club.

And here we all are waiting for the dog-fight to begin. There are only 120 people in Calton, but the Wakes raised £1500 for the Church.

So cars and Christianity go hand in hand!

Those pictures can't have been taken this year. There's blue sky! And nary an umbrella in sight!

You're right, Steve! The Wakes always take place on the last Saturday in August, and we were blessed with good weather last year.
