Dirty Tricks(not always) If you have flying suit, stun your guys, then throw them onto the ufo power sources. They will be able to recover the elerium, and then fly off. Usefull if you don't feel like clearing a whole map or ship
If you don't want to explore an alien base just camp around the starting lift (the 2nd floor part) and have your soldiers looking through the sides of it. The aliens will come to you after some turns.
