Decreasing.
I am having probs decreasing on the front of a baby cardigan. The left sloping decrease was fine, I did Slip 2 Knitwise , insert left needle and knit togehther. Now the equivalent for the right sloping side should be Knit 2tog, or Knit1, put back on left needle and lift 2nd stitch over it......well I have tried both these techniques and it is forming a raised edge, which is very noticable.
I don't think I have ever had probs with this before, but thinking about it i usually pick up and Knit the button/hole band and this method hides the edging stitches.
but this pattern calls for the band to be knit in with the cardi front, so you decrease 1 just before the last 4 stitches which are the band.
Any ideas as to another method I can use, which will produce a very flat edge. Otherwise I am going to have to unpick the other front and doing the decrease bits again making them more raised to match this one.

Re: Decreasing.
how about at the begining of the knit row, k1, k2tog so the decrease is not right on the edge of the work?

Re: Decreasing.
I've just had another idea, at the beginning of the knit row (decrease row) k1, slip 1, k1, pass slip stitch over. This usually makes a smooth decrease.
Love to see when its finished!

Re: Decreasing.
I'll bring it with me, it is the same baby cardi that is on display in the shop.
Liz the decrease has to be done at the end of the row so that it shapes the front of the cardi, that's whats causing the probs. Well not even at the end of the row, it has to be done 4 stitches before the end.
bit stumped with it really, have already unpicked it twice lol

Re: Decreasing.
If you bring it in next week I'll have a looksee for you
Could you do the decrease at the beginning of the row even though it says do it at the end? (Obviously on the right side of course!)

Re: Decreasing.
Well it turns out the cardi in the shop looks exactly the same as mine, with a raised bit on one side, so it seems there si not much I can do about it.
Grrrrr... lol
